Man charged with resisting arrest at DuPage County courthouse

A Naperville man has been accused of injuring a sheriff's deputy at the DuPage County Judicial Center.

Nathan Pope, 40, of the 100 block of East Bailey Road, is charged with felony resisting or obstructing a peace officer. A judge set his bail at $250,000 Wednesday afternoon.

On Tuesday morning, Pope attended a hearing on a 2022 misdemeanor case in which he was charged with criminal trespass to land. There was an arrest warrant on that case. As the deputy tried to take him into custody, Pope resisted the effort to handcuff him, according to court documents. The struggle injured the deputy's lower back and an arm.

To be freed pretrial, Pope would have to post $25,000 on the latest case and $1,000 on the trespassing case.
