Authorities: Motorcyclist hit 150 mph during high-speed chase on I-88 near Naperville

An Oswego man is being held on $100,000 bail on a felony charge of aggravated fleeing and eluding police.

Vermain Schaefer, 27, of the 200 block of Paradise Parkway, would have to post $10,000 to be freed pretrial.

Illinois State Police say they were enforcing speed limits at 12:19 p.m. Monday near the intersection of Interstates 88 and 355. A trooper reported seeing a KTM motorcycle traveling at 100 mph at the Washington Street exit in Naperville.

The trooper tried to pull the motorcycle over, but Schaefer then accelerated to a speed of 150 mph and wove through traffic, authorities said.

The trooper lost sight of the motorcycle, according to court records, and a state police air unit picked it up. Schaefer exited and parked on the 25W100 block of Ramm Drive in Naperville, where he was arrested, according to the records. The charging document says Schaefer does not have a valid license.

A news release from the DuPage County state's attorney's office said Schaefer also faces "numerous" misdemeanor and petty traffic offenses but did not specify those charges.
