Fire damages garage of St. Charles townhouse

Authorities are investigating the cause of a garage fire Sunday night at a St. Charles townhouse.

The St. Charles Fire Department responded to the fire on the 3700 block of King George Lane about 8:40 p.m. Sunday, officials said.

The first unit arrived on the scene within five minutes of the call and reported an active fire in the attached garage of the townhouse, according to Battalion Chief Anthony Centimano.

The homeowner had discovered the fire and had left the building before the fire department arrived.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze within three minutes of their arrival, officials said.

No one was injured. Property damage was estimated at $1,100.

The St. Charles Fire Department was assisted by the St. Charles Police Department and fire departments from Geneva, Batavia, Elburn, West Chicago and North Aurora.
