Former South Barrington Trustee Rosanne Plencner has died

A former South Barrington trustee who served during parts of three decades has died.

Rosanne Therese Plencner, 87, passed April 27 in Florida, where she had lived since 2017.

Born Rosanne Rychtarczyk, Plencner was the youngest of four sisters. Raised in Chicago, she married Ronald Plencner when she was 21 and they remained together until his death in 2003.

Once married, Plencner worked in the home building business.

After the couple and their daughter, Sharon, moved to South Barrington in the late 1960s, Plencner became active in local government, serving first on the village's plan commission and then the village board from 1979 to 1991.

Plencner and her husband also visited village hall every winter dressed as Santa and Mrs. Claus. Their arrivals by helicopter drew plenty of children and media attention.

Plencner loved spending time with her granddaughters after school and on weekend trips. She also enjoyed line dancing, biking and other hobbies.

Visitation is scheduled to run from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Countryside Funeral Home, 950 S. Bartlett Road, Bartlett.

A funeral is set for 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with entombment at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, 1185 W. Algonquin Road, Palatine.
