Wildflower walk set for May 7 at Dundee nature preserve
Friends of Dundee Natural Areas will hold its first wildflower walk at Dixie Briggs-Fromm Nature Preserve on May 7. Meet at 2 p.m. at the Dixie Briggs-Fromm Nature Preserve's Eastmoor entrance, off Lawndale Drive in the Willoughby Farms subdivision in Dundee Township. Families are welcome. The moderate-pace walk will go through hill prairies, along a streamside, and to the overlooks of wetlands. Find out how to spot balsam ragwort, shooting star, bird's foot violet, and violet wood sorrels among the sedges and grasses. Learn how Dixie Briggs-Fromm was designated an Illinois Nature Preserve because of its intact original natural quality. For questions, email friendsofdundeenaturalareas@gmail.com.
