Incumbents leading in Libertyville village board race
It appeared experience prevailed in Libertyville as incumbents Scott Adams, Pete Garrity and Jim Connell seemed headed for reelection over newcomers Brian Enochs and Alejandra Dominguez, who mounted a civil and spirited campaign.
As of 9:40 p.m. Tuesday, Garrity had 1,243 votes, followed by Connell with 1,229 votes, Adams with 1,211 votes, Dominguez with 913 votes and Enochs with 739 votes, unofficial totals show.
Adams and Garrity, the senior trustees with nine and eight years on the board, respectively, ran as a team citing their track records and leadership in achievements such as the village's strong financial status and the creation of master plans for parks and stormwater management.
Connell, who was appointed in 2021 to Donna Johnson's trustee spot after she was elected mayor, ran a solo campaign in a bid for a full four-year term. During the campaign, he cited infrastructure improvements, parks and recreation programming and attracting and growing the business as priorities.
