Aurora man sentenced for DUI crash that injured passenger

An Aurora man has been sentenced to seven years in prison after pleading guilty to aggravated DUI, the Kane County state's attorney's office announced Thursday.

Daniel Mayen, 29, of the 300 block of Hankes Avenue, was arrested after a head-on collision Oct. 24, 2021, on Mitchell Road in Aurora that left his passenger with serious injuries. He pleaded guilty on Oct. 20, 2022.

Mayen's blood-alcohol concentration at the time of the crash was .257. He already was on probation for unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. His new sentence for the drug conviction is seven years, to be served concurrently with the aggravated DUI sentence.
