Salt Creek School District 48 names new superintendent

Villa Park-based Salt Creek School District 48 has hired a new superintendent.

Amy M. Zaher will step into the top role in the three-school district July 1. She currently is the assistant superintendent in Prospect Heights Elementary School District 23.

Zaher holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Eastern Illinois University, a master of science degree from Dominican University, a master of science degree in curriculum and instruction from Olivet Nazarene University, and a master of science degree in reading and literacy from Chicago State University. She earned her doctorate in educational leadership from National-Louis University.

District 48 enrolls roughly 485 students from parts of Villa Park, Elmhurst, Oak Brook and Oakbrook Terrace. The school board approved a three-year contract with Zaher.
