Man found guilty of raping woman, pushing pregnant teen who witnessed assault

An Aurora man has been convicted of raping a woman, then pushing a pregnant teen who walked in and witnessed the assault.

A jury found Francisco L. Manriquez, 53, of the 700 block of West Sullivan Road, guilty of aggravated criminal sexual assault, criminal sexual assault and aggravated battery, according to a news release from the Kane County state's attorney's office.

The verdict was reached on Jan. 31 after a two-day trial, according to court records.

Prosecutors alleged that on Feb. 5, 2020, Manriquez sexually assaulted the first victim. Then when a 17-year-old girl, who was 7 months pregnant, walked in, he pushed her and prevented her from calling for help.

Manriquez had been held on $1 million bail since his arrest two days after the attack. Judge David Kliment revoked the bail after the conviction.

Manriquez could be sentenced to 12 to 50 years in prison. He must register for life as a sex offender.

His next court date is March 1.
