Volunteers sought for Birds in My Neighborhood program

Volunteers are needed to help kids explore nature through the Birds in My Neighborhood program in Lake and McHenry counties.

The commitment involves 1.5 days training - March 8 at Volo Bog State Natural Area and March 22 at Rollins Savanna Forest Preserve near Grayslake. Training also includes three classroom visits, two in-school and one on a field trip in April and/or May.

The deadline to volunteer is Friday, Dec. 23. The program runs from March to June 2023 and requires a 15- to 20-hour commitment. Volunteers are provided with all necessary training.
