White holding launch event for Naperville mayoral campaign
Naperville City Councilman Benny White is holding a launch event Monday to kick off his campaign to become the city's next mayor.
The event will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Go Brewing, located at 1665 Quincy Ave. in Naperville. Democratic state Rep. Janet Yang Rohr and Democratic state Sen. Laura Ellman are expected to be among the speakers.
White, who was first elected in 2017 to the city council, announced his mayoral bid last month. He aims to replace Steve Chirico, who won't seek reelection for a third term.
Local businessman Scott Wehrli, a longtime member of the Naperville liquor commission, in July became the first candidate to enter the mayoral race.
