Hebreard poised to retain DuPage forest president seat

Democratic incumbent Daniel Hebreard appeared poised to defeat Republican challenger Robert Schillerstrom in the race for DuPage County Forest Preserve District president.

With all precincts reporting by 10:52 p.m. Tuesday, unofficial results showed Hebreard with 165,940 votes while Schillerstrom had 158,049.

Hebreard, who initially joined the district as a ranger in 2005, was first elected president in 2018.

In addition to the board president position, all six commissioner seats were up for reelection.

Marsha Murphy, the Republican incumbent in District 1, appeared to have beaten Democratic challenger Michael Murray. Murphy received 24,627 votes to Murray's 21,798 votes.

In District 2, Democratic incumbent Tina Tyson-Dunne appeared to have defeated Republican Don Krause. Tyson-Dunne had 31,712 votes. Krause had 27,799 votes.

In District 3, Republican incumbent Linda Painter led Democratic challenger Marybeth Carlson. Painter had 30,330 votes to Carlson's 28,639 votes.

In District 4, Democratic incumbent Jeff Gahris was leading with 27,643 votes. Republican challenger Tim Elliott had 26,592 votes.

In District 5, Democrat Barbara O'Meara appeared to earn a second term. O'Meara had 31,349 votes. Republican Elizabeth Folk Van Arsdell had 21,221 votes.

In District 6, Republican incumbent Al Murphy led Democratic challenger Erik Spande. Murphy had 26,439 votes to Spande's 24,523 votes.
