Compost giveaway and pumpkin smashing in Wauconda
A compost giveaway and pumpkin smash will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Wauconda Township parking lot, 505 W. Bonner Road, Wauconda. Bring your own buckets to collect free compost for your flower and vegetable gardens, landscaping or lawn. Maximum of 20 gallons per household. Participants also can bring pumpkins and gourds to be smashed in a dumpster for future composting. Remove any candles or decorations before smashing.
