At least $5,000 in pumpkins reported stolen from Huntley-area farm

If you got a good deal two weeks ago on pumpkins from a guy selling them on a street corner or off the back of a truck, there's a chance you may have bought stolen produce.

The Kane County Sheriff's Office said that a pumpkin grower on Kreutzer Road near Huntley reported that between Oct. 13 and Oct. 16, at least $5,000 worth of his "best, largest" pumpkins were stolen.

The pumpkins had been harvested and placed in piles, according to the report. Over time, the farmer noticed the piles getting smaller and smaller, eventually determining that were being stolen and reporting it the sheriff's office.
