Elk Grove awards fourth grant to high school manufacturing programs

Elk Grove Village has provided a fourth $100,000 grant to the District 214 Education Foundation in support of Elk Grove High School's manufacturing lab and curriculum.

Officials say the annual grants provided to the school the last three years jump-started efforts to modernize an advanced manufacturing lab and purchase high-tech manufacturing equipment such as lathes and mills, which students can use to learn how to work with metal, wood and other materials.

The latest workforce development grant is part of a five-year, $500,000 commitment. A check presentation was made Oct. 17 at the village's Made in Elk Grove Manufacturing and Technology Expo held at the high school.
