No injuries in small Elgin house fire

No one was injured after a small fire at an Elgin home Tuesday, according to the Elgin Fire Department.

At approximately 3:30 p.m., firefighters responded to reports of a fire at a residence on the 600 block of Harrison Street.

The call was made by the home's residents after they smelled smoke within the house. Authorities said that they had evacuated the home by the time responders arrived.

The fire was confined to a single home within the room, according to authorities.

Authorities said that the fire was quickly brought under control and the home was still habitable afterwards.

A source of the fire was identified and investigators were not called, authorities said.
