Killing of Waukegan man in Beach Park under investigation

A 24-year-old Beach Park man is in custody after the fatal shooting of a 37-year-old Waukegan man early Thursday morning in Beach Park.

Authorities said the victim, Tino Roane, arrived at a home on the 38100 block of North Loyola Avenue, knocked on the door and let himself in. Roane was acquainted with the female homeowner, who was not there at the time, according to a news release from the Lake County sheriff's office.

The 24-year-old, who also lives there, asked Roane several times to leave before they started to fight, the news release said. Roane retrieved a knife from the kitchen, and the 24-year-old then shot him, according to the sheriff's office, which responded shortly after 12:40 a.m. to a 911 call.

The case remains under investigation, and authorities have not released the name of the 24-year-old.
