Hoffman Estates Fire Department to hold open houses Oct. 8, 15 & 22

The Hoffman Estates Fire Department will host open houses at three fire stations during the month of October.

All three will run from 1 to 4 p.m. on successive Saturdays, beginning Oct. 8, at Firehouse 21, 225 Flagstaff Lane, and includes an appearance by a helicopter.

The other are Oct. 15, at Firehouse 23, 1300 Westbury Drive, and on Oct. 22, at Firehouse 24, 5775 Beacon Pointe.

The open houses are family events with multiple activities and fire department apparatus for children to see.

Adults can obtain valuable fire prevention information and visit numerous community vendor booths, including ComEd, Amita Health, NICOR, Illinois Fire Safety Alliance and the Hoffman Estates Park District.

Children can play on the kids' fire pole and run through the firefighter obstacle course. This year's open houses will also include hands-on skills stations on both CPR and fire extinguisher use with a live fire simulator.
