River Trails District 26 fills school board vacancy

The River Trails School District 26 board of education on Tuesday appointed Des Plaines resident Becky Pfisterer to fill a vacant seat on the panel until April 2023.

The vacancy was created with the resignation of former board member Susan Stolzer in August. The process to fill the seat included multiple applicants being interviewed by the board.

Pfisterer has lived in the district since 2008 and she and her husband, Steve, have two sons attending District 26 schools. She is the director of national accounts for Advisor Perspectives, a website catered toward financial advisors.

Pfisterer graduated from the University of Illinois Chicago with Bachelor of Science degrees in marketing and management, as well as a concentration in human resource management and a certificate in entrepreneurship.

"My family values a strong public education and I hope to help continue to foster a school district that is strengthened by our diversity and creates a healthy and fair environment for all students," she said in an announcement of her appointment. "I also look forward to finding ways to strengthen the bond between our community members and schools."
