Peace pole dedication Friday at Hawthorn Woods school

Lake Zurich Community Unit School District 95 and the District 95 Educational Foundation will host a public dedication ceremony for a newly installed Peace Pole at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, at Spencer Loomis Elementary School in Hawthorn Woods.

Families, students, staff will be on hand for the reveal and dedication outside the main entrance adjacent to the playground at the school, 1 Hubbard Lane.

The concept of bringing peace poles to District 95 schools was advanced by a community member and subsequently adopted by District 95. The Spencer Loomis Peace Pole was designed by Girl Scout Troop 1906 and funded by the foundation and Fidelity Group (John & Jason Sfire).

Peace poles at other district schools will be installed in coming months.
