Wallace tabbed to fill open seat on Buffalo Grove park board

The Buffalo Grove Park District board has picked Hetal Wallace to fill the vacancy left by former commissioner and current state Sen. Adriane Johnson.

Wallace, who will serve until April 2023, holds a bachelor's degree in exercise physiology from the University of Illinois and has been involved in a variety of park district programs, including the Studio 83 dance program, the Hurricanes Swim Team, and theater productions at the Community Arts Center.

"A park district and its programs are important to bring us together, and finding your home in a new community," Wallace said. "I have relied on the old saying, 'It takes a village to raise children.' The Buffalo Grove Park District is that village that is helping me raise my children.

"Every adult involved with the programs at the Community Arts Center or the Hurricanes Swim Team becomes someone my family and I can rely on for navigating the difficulties of putting down roots in a new community," she added.

Wallace was interviewed by the park commissioners on June 8, along with three other candidates.

"As each candidate we interviewed was impressive, Hetal Wallace stood out," board President Scott Jacobson said.
