Casten hosting town hall in Palatine to discuss inflation

Democratic U.S. Rep. Sean Casten of Downers Grove will host a town hall about the Inflation Reduction Act on Saturday, Aug. 13, in Palatine.

The discussion is set for noon at village hall, 200 E. Wood St. Doors will open at 11:30 a.m. Attendance will be limited to those who RSVP for a general admission ticket via Eventbrite.com. It also will be live-streamed at www.facebook.com/RepSeanCasten.

The bill, which has been approved by the Senate and is awaiting action by the House, aims to reduce the deficit and lower inflation. It calls for lower prescription drug costs, investment in domestic energy production and more staff for the IRS, among other provisions.

Casten represents Illinois' 6th District and is running for reelection this year against Republican Keith Pekau of Orland Park.
