ComEd to address recurring outages in Hoffman Estates at Aug. 15 meeting

ComEd representatives will appear before the Hoffman Estates village board Monday, Aug. 15, to present plans to address repeated power outages in town.

The meeting is set to take place at 7 p.m. in the board room at village hall, 1900 Hassell Road.

Over the last several weeks, Hoffman Estates has experienced frequent power outages resulting from weather events, particularly in the southeast area of town, officials said. While each storm is an isolated incident, the recurring outages within specific pockets of the community regardless of storm severity indicate an opportunity to identify underlying causes and make improvements. Village officials have been in communication with ComEd representatives to share resident concerns and work toward addressing the ongoing outage issues.

At this time, ComEd is evaluating the conditions of equipment and vegetation in the areas of concern. The assessment results and an accompanying action plan will be included in ComEd's presentation.

Residents interested in attending the meeting will have the opportunity to provide feedback and ask questions. Those unable to attend may submit comments through the village website by noon on Aug. 15.

The Aug. 15 board meeting also will be streamed live on YouTube and the Village's HETV cable channel (Comcast channel 6, AT&T channel 99).
