Hampshire house fire causes $125,000 in damage, no injuries

No injuries were reported from a kitchen fire inside a two-story, single-family house in Hampshire Wednesday afternoon that caused an estimated $125,000 in damage.

Huntley Fire Protection District officials said firefighters were called to the home on the 1900 block of Cameron Drive shortly after 4 p.m.

Firefighters encountered heavy smoke showing from the front of the home.

All residents were able to escape the blaze before firefighters arrived, including family pets.

Firefighters reported heavy fire engulfing most of the kitchen of the home with smoke throughout the house.

The blaze was under control within 10 minutes and officially extinguished after 30 minutes more.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The house was equipped with working smoke detectors, fire officials said.

The damage from the fire left the home uninhabitable.
