Lightning suspected cause of fire that left Buffalo Grove home uninhabitable

Lightning is suspected to have sparked a house fire that displaced a Buffalo Grove family Saturday, authorities said.

Buffalo Grove firefighters were called to the two-story home on the 0-100 block of River Oaks Court East at about 4:40 a.m., officials said.

Firefighters entered the home and worked to extinguish the fire, which was burning in the attic. Several neighboring fire departments assisted in bringing the fire under control.

No injuries were reported, but the home was left uninhabitable and the family living there was displaced.

Although lightning is the likely cause, the fire remains under investigation, Buffalo Grove firefighters said.
