Emerson Middle gets new assistant principal

A longtime suburban educator has been hired to be the next assistant principal at Emerson Middle School in Niles.

Maria Soulias was hired for the post last week by the Park Ridge-Niles School District 64 board. She'll start Aug. 1.

Soulias has spent her career so far as a math teacher at Mannheim Middle School in Melrose Park. That's part of Franklin Park-based Mannheim School District 83.

Soulias succeeds Louis Kotvis, who took a position with Highland Park-based North Shore School District 112.
