Naperville 203 board approves contract with maintenance union

The Naperville Unit District 203 school board approved a five-year contract with the union representing custodians, maintenance workers and groundskeepers.

The agreement with the Naperville Unit Maintenance Association, approved at this week's board meeting, runs through the 2026-27 school year and includes a one-time $1,000 payment in addition to a 7% raise for employees in the first year of the contract.

Raises in future years will be based on inflation with established minimums and maximums each year.

The new contract provides the potential for NUMA employees to receive increased paid time off each year. The district will continue to pay for 85% of insurance costs.

Naperville 203 now has contracts in place with all four of its bargaining units.

"We relied heavily on this group throughout the pandemic, and they did an amazing job of ensuring our students could continue to learn in safe and clean environments throughout the district," Naperville 203 Superintendent Dan Bridges said in a statement.
