Backpack collection drive benefits District 59 students
The Community Character Coalition of Elk Grove is sponsoring a collection of new backpacks for students in Elk Grove Township Elementary District 59.
The collection drive, which started Monday and runs through July 25, has a goal of collecting a backpack for every student who attends the district's back to school events in August.
Collection sites for backpack donations are the Elk Grove Village Public Library during regular hours; District 59's administration center, 1001 Leicester Road, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday; and the Enclave Learning & Earning Center, 75 Turner Ave., during regular hours.
Backpacks can also be ordered online and shipped directly to District 59.
