Elmhurst's civilian police academy to return in August

The Elmhurst Police Department is seeking up to 25 participants for the return of its civilian police academy program.

The 12-week program is run by Elmhurst police officers and detectives to share how the department operates on a day-to-day basis. The academy covers topics like arrest laws, crime scene analysis, investigations and more.

The program runs from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Wednesdays from Aug. 31 to Nov. 16. Registration is required, and the program is open only to Elmhurst residents or workers ages 21 or older.
