Person flees after crashing into utility pole in Bartlett

A person drove a pickup truck into a utility pole Sunday afternoon and fled the crash scene, Bartlett police said Monday.

The crash happened near the intersection of Illinois Route 25 and Southwind Boulevard on the west side of Bartlett. Police Sgt. Tom Alagna said emergency personnel arrived at the scene at around 5:10 p.m. Investigators believe the driver must have been heading northbound on Route 25 before losing control and crashing into the utility pole, Alagna said.

Alagna said the crash knocked power lines onto Route 25 and crews had to close the road for around three hours to fix the damage.

Anyone with information about the crash is encouraged to contact police at (630) 837-0846, Sgt. Alagna said.
