State lawmakers to host shredding event and food drive

State Sen. Don DeWitte, a St. Charles Republican, and state Rep. Dan Ugaste, a Geneva Republican, are hosting a free shredding event and food drive on Saturday, May 14.

The event will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. at the former St. Charles police station, 211 N. Riverside Ave.

DeWitte and Ugaste said the shredding event will provide residents with a safe way to dispose of sensitive documents such as old bank statements, tax documents and receipts.

Residents can also donate nonperishable food to benefit the Northern Illinois Food Bank at the event.

Participants are asked to follow the traffic signs and remain in their vehicles. The staff will unload cars.

For additional information, call DeWitte's office at (847) 214-8245 or Ugaste's office at (630) 797-5530.
