Three arrested after police chase
Three men were arrested after a police chase involving a stolen vehicle through multiple towns on Thursday, according to the Villa Park Police Department.
At 9:58 p.m. Thursday, Lombard and Villa Park officers responded to sightings of a stolen vehicle in the area of Roosevelt Road.
Lombard police located the vehicle, a black Range Rover, which then fled east Roosevelt Road toward Villa Park.
Villa Park officers deployed tire-deflation devices at Roosevelt and Ardmore. Authorities said the vehicle was pursued until it became disabled and drove into a ditch near York Road in Oak Brook.
Three suspects ran into a nearby forested area, authorities said. Multiple police agencies and a police helicopter assisted in searching the area.
Rashaad D Chamberli of Hillside, Shaquelle M. Matthews of Chicago and Dangelo D. Giles of Glen Ellyn were found and arrested without incident, police said. All three men were charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, unlawful use of a weapon, and possession of cannabis, police said, and Chamberli was additionally charged with aggravated fleeing and eluding.
Officers said they recovered three handguns, five extended-capacity magazines and one loaded 50-round ammunition drum, along with a felony amount of cannabis.
The police investigation is ongoing.
