Forum set for Democratic candidates in 51st Illinois House District

The League of Women Voters of the Palatine Area will host a virtual forum May 4 for candidates in the Democratic primary for the Illinois House District 51 seat.

Chelsea Laliberte Barnes of Palatine and Nabeela Sayed of Inverness are seeking the Democratic nomination to challenge incumbent Republican state Rep. Chris Bos of Lake Zurich in the Nov. 8 general election. The 51st District encompasses portions of northwest Cook County and southern Lake County, including Barrington, Deer Park, Hawthorn Woods, Hoffman Estates, Inverness, Kildeer, Palatine, Lake Zurich and Long Grove.

Eva Porter, a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority social action committee, will serve as the moderator of the forum, which takes place from 6 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. Candidates will have approximately one hour to address questions that have been prepared in advance, as well as offer opening and closing statements.
