Section of road near Round Lake Heights closed after culvert failure
The Lake County Division of Transportation closed 1½-mile section of Monaville Road between Fairfield and Cedar Lake roads north of Round Lake Heights after a culvert under the road failed Wednesday. Signs of a potential culvert failure along the section of Monaville Road were spotted during routine road inspections this week. Work to replace the aging culvert was scheduled for later this year. The road will be closed until the repair is complete. The county did not provide a timeline for the repair but said LCDOT crews will work as quickly as possible.
