Tree trimming to briefly close portions of trail in South Elgin

Tree trimming along the Fox River Trail in South Elgin may lead to brief trail interruptions beginning Monday, April 4 and continuing through Friday, April 8.

Lewis Tree Service, a contractor for ComEd, will be trimming trees along the trail from SEBA Park in downtown South Elgin to Jon J. Duerr Forest Preserve in South Elgin, where the trail crosses the Fox River.

The project is part of the utility's effort to keep trees trimmed near power lines and utility poles, to protect customer service, and to remove dead and declining trees that may potentially pose a safety risk.

While the trail will remain open during the project, the Forest Preserve District of Kane County asks trail users to obey all signs and barricades, and to always use caution when traveling past trucks and equipment. Signs will be posted on the trail at both ends of the project, to alert trail users.
