Candidates sought for Lake County Board vacancy

Candidates are being sought for a pending vacancy on the Lake County Board.

Democrat Bill Durkin, a lifelong Waukegan resident who was elected in 2010, is not seeking reelection and has announced he will step down effective April 8.

The vacancy must be filled within 60 days, with the advice and consent of the full county board. The appointee will serve until the end of the Dec. 4 county board session.

The replacement must be at least 18 years old; have a valid voter registration in Lake County; be a Democrat; and be a resident of District 8, which includes portions of Waukegan. Visit www.lakecountyil.gov for a district map.

Those interested should email a resume, letter of interest, recommendations or other supporting materials to countyboard@lakecountyil.gov or by mail to Lake County Board Chair Sandy Hart, Lake County Board office, 18 N. County St., Waukegan 60085.
