Man killed in crash with school bus was intoxicated, Batavia police say

A man who died when he crashed into a school bus in November in Batavia was driving while intoxicated, Batavia police reported Friday.

Adam D. Knisley, 33, had "intoxicating compounds in his system" at the time of the Nov. 23 crash, according to a police news release.

It did not specify what the compounds were, and a spokesman was not available to elaborate.

The crash happened on Hart Road, north of Papermill Hill Drive. Knisley was driving a 2007 Infiniti two-door coupe and crashed head-on to a bus carrying 39 Rotolo Middle School students.

One student with minor injuries was taken to a hospital. Several other students were treated at the scene. The bus driver was not injured.

Knisley, who lived in Aurora, was pronounced dead at the scene.
