District 64 board could name new member Monday

Editor's note: The story has been updated to correct the location of Monday's meeting and to indicate the board could name an appointee to the panel at the session.

The Park Ridge-Niles District 64 board could appoint a new board member Monday night, a spokesman said Friday.

Officials will interview eight candidates for an open school board seat in a special meeting set to begin at 7 p.m. at Lincoln Middle School, 200 S. Lincoln Ave., Park Ridge.

Board members need to find a successor for Rebecca Little, who resigned earlier this month. She had been on the board since 2019.

In an unusual move, the interviews are expected to be public, District 64 spokesman Nick Shepkowski said. Each interview is expected to last 15 to 20 minutes.

As is the board's custom, the meeting will be livestreamed at youtube.com/user/d64boemeetings.

The eventual appointee will serve until the April 2023 election.
