Batavia police continue to investigate crash that killed two men
Batavia police have identified two men killed in a car crash Sunday night on Fabyan Parkway.
Farzin Khamis-Zadegan, 21, of Batavia, and Brian Froehlich, 18, of Elburn, died during the crash that also left three others injured.
Khamis-Zadegan was driving a Ford Mustang west on Fabyan around 7:15 p.m. Froehlich was a passenger in his car.
The car went into the eastbound lanes between Van Nortwick Avenue and Carriage Drive, according to Deputy Chief Eric Blowers. An oncoming Kia Optima hit the Mustang's passenger side, and the Mustang came to rest in the parkway on the south side of Fabyan.
The three occupants in the Optima were taken to a hospital for treatment. The Kane County Chronicle reported late Monday afternoon that a 37-year-old woman and a 6-year-old child were released. A 12-year-old boy remains hospitalized. The Chronicle also reported that Froehlich attended St. Charles North High School.
Police do not yet know why the Mustang crossed into the oncoming lanes, Blowers said.
On Monday, people attached a white memorial cross to a utility pole at the site. They wrote the victims' names on it and initialed it. Roses, balloons and battery-powered tea candles also were left at the site.
Anyone with information is asked to call Blowers at (630) 454-2500.
