Lake County Board member from Grayslake running for reelection

Grayslake resident John Wasik is running for reelection to the Lake County Board's 6th District.

Wasik said he is seeking a second term to continue working to lower property taxes, address climate change and improve roads. He said his top priorities would be to fund and build an underpass on routes 120 and 83 in Grayslake, complete the Lake County Forest Preserve District's Millennial Trail and implement its climate action plan. County board members double as forest preserve commissioners.

Wasik has championed a county plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to zero by 2040, a financing program for businesses doing energy improvements and other energy-related measures. He is the author of 19 books and a contributor to The New York Times and Forbes.com.

The redrawn 6th District will expand north across Rollins Road into unincorporated Lake Villa Township to include all of Third Lake and west along Route 120 into Round Lake.
