Forest preserve inks two labor pacts

The Lake County Forest Preserve District has approved agreements with two labor groups.

A three-year pact with the Construction and Laborers' Local 152, effective Dec. 1, 2021, covers 67 field, trades and maintenance employees. It includes a 4.25% increase in the first year and 3% in the second and third years. The cost over the life of the contract is $988,219, according to the district.

Forest commissioners also approved a four-year agreement, effective Jan. 1, with the Illinois Fraternal Order of Police Labor Council, which represents 13 full-time ranger officers. The pact does not cover the director of public safety, sergeants or shift commanders. It maintains 3.5% step increases that have been part of previous agreements and includes a 3% across the board increase for all years of the agreement. The cost to the district is $479,688 over the life of the contract, according to the district.
