Hoffman Estates MLK breakfast switched to virtual event

Daily Herald report

Hoffman Estates' in-person breakfast honoring Martin Luther King Jr. originally scheduled to take place Monday at village hall has been canceled due to COVID-19 but will be replaced by a virtual event.

The Cultural Awareness Commission will broadcast a virtual celebration on HETV Channel 6/99 and the village's YouTube Channel. The theme of this year's event is "Are We the Dream of Dr. King Jr.," presented by Rick Lockhart.

In keeping this day of service in mind, the village will be collecting nonperishable canned goods, new hats and gloves, and/or toiletries for community food pantries and shelters. Community members may donate these items from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at village hall, 1900 Hassell Road, Hoffman Estates. The collection will run through the winter.
