Naperville Park District ready for ice skating and sledding season

When the cold and snow finally arrive, the Naperville Park District will be ready with multiple locations for ice skating and sledding. The three lighted ice skating areas are at Centennial Park, the Nike Sports Complex and Wolf's Crossing Community Park, all open to 10 p.m. Meadow Glens Park and Gartner Park, which are not lighted, are open until one hour after sunset. Red or green flags indicate whether the parks are open or closed to skating; status updates are also at napervilleparks.org. The sled hills will be open when the ground is frozen, two or more inches of snow are on the ground and no grass is visible. Rotary Hill is the lone lighted location and open until 10 p.m. Unlighted hills at Arrowhead Park, Brook Crossings, Country Lakes Park, Gartner Park, May Watts Park, Weigand Riverfront Park and Wolf's Crossing Community Park all close at dusk.
