No injuries reported after Round Lake Beach house fire

No serious injuries were reported Tuesday night after fire broke out at a home in Round Lake Beach, authorities said Wednesday.

Firefighters from the Greater Round Lake Fire Protection District were called to the home in the 1600 block of Woodridge Drive at 8 p.m. for a report of flames and smoke outside the residence, officials said. They arrived within four minutes of the call to find fire on the exterior of the house.

Two hose lines were used to extinguish the fire, which had spread into the attic and through the roof. The fire was declared under control at about 8:20 p.m.

Officers from the Round Lake Beach Police Department assisted with the evacuation and accountability of the residents, and an animal was rescued from the building by fire crews, officials said.

Two residents were evaluated at the scene as a precaution, but no serious injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, authorities said. A damage estimate was not immediately available.

Fire crews from the Fox Lake, Grayslake, Lake Villa, and Wauconda fire districts assisted, officials said.
