Gurnee school district to host free COVID-19 testing on Tuesday

Gurnee-based Woodland Elementary School District 50 is hosting another free COVID-19 testing event for the community on Tuesday, Dec. 21. Representatives from SHIELD, an initiative created by the University of Illinois, will conduct saliva tests from 3:30 to 8 p.m. at Elementary East at 17261 W. Gages Lake Road. No appointment is required. To ensure a usable sample, participants are asked not brush their teeth or eat, drink, smoke or chew anything at least 30 minutes before being tested. The school district enforces the use of face masks and other strategies to mitigate the spread of the virus in school buildings. To save time, participants may register in advance online at dist50.net.
