No one injured in crash between Lake Park bus, car

No one was injured Tuesday when a school bus carrying Lake Park High School students was involved in a minor crash on Lake Street near the Green Valley driving range in Hanover Park, officials said.

First responders from the Hanover Park Fire Department arrived about 6:30 p.m. and found the bus had sustained minor damage in a crash with a car, Hanover Park Battalion Chief Brian Chmielak said Tuesday night. The car had to be towed from the scene but the bus was able to drive away, Chmielak said.

Soon after the crash, an official from Lake Park High School District 108 arrived to release the students on the bus, according to Sherri Anderson, the district's director of communications.

"We are appreciative for First Student for looking out for our students' safety always," said Anderson, referring to the bus company. "Everything worked the way it's supposed to."

Chmielak said officials are investigating how the crash happened.
