Lake, McHenry counties included in disaster declaration

Farmers in Lake and McHenry counties have been included in a natural disaster designation from the U.S. Department of Agriculture for losses caused by freezing that occurred from May 5 through May 30.

USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack issued the natural disaster designation, which covers in Lake, McHenry and Boone counties, as well as those in seven Wisconsin counties.

The designation allows USDA Farm Service Agency to provide emergency loans to producers recovering from natural disasters. Producers should contact their local USDA Service Center to ask questions or file a notice of loss.
