Early morning blaze damages Round Lake business
An early morning fire at a insulating company in Round Lake took an hour and a half to contain and caused an estimated $150,000 in damage to the building.
Greater Round Lake Fire Protection District officials said they were alerted to the blaze on the 700 block of Magna Drive by an alarm system inside the building just before 12:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy smoke and an activated sprinkler system. The building was unoccupied at the time.
Fire crews declared the fire out at 2 a.m. and remained on scene until about 5:30 a.m. No injuries were reported.
Thirteen neighboring fire departments assisted Greater Round Lake firefighters, according to the fire district.
The building's alarm and fire suppression systems worked as intended and helped minimize damage to the business and kept it from spreading, officials said.
