Park Ridge-Niles District 64 teachers to get pay raises
Park Ridge-Niles School District 64 teachers will get immediate pay raises under a new five-year contract approved by the school board late Thursday night.
The deal with the Park Ridge Education Association, the union representing the teachers, is retroactive to the start of the current school year. The union previously approved the pact.
Teachers will receive a base salary bump of 3.75% this year, the contract indicates.
For the 2022-23 school year, base pay will increase 2.75%.
For the 2023-24 term, teachers' base pay will increase 1.75%.
For the 2024-25 and 2025-26 school years, teachers' base pay will go up at least 2% but less than 3%, depending on the annual increase in the consumer price index.
Aside from pay, the new contract doesn't include any notable changes to employee benefits, said Adam Parisi, the district's chief school business official.
Parisi was pleased with the negotiations, saying "there was good tenor throughout."
Board member Tom Sotos praised the deal during Thursday night's meeting at Roosevelt Elementary School in Park Ridge.
"Both sides and our taxpayers should be proud of this agreement," Sotos said.
District 64 has about 4,700 students in eight schools.
