Murphy hosts virtual event Wednesday on signing up for health care coverage

Illinois Sen. Laura Murphy is hosting a virtual event Wednesday to help constituents navigate the process of enrolling in health care coverage through the Affordable Care Act.

Murphy will be joined by state rep. Michelle Mussman, a Democrat from Schaumburg, Cook County Commissioner Kevin Morrison, a Democrat from Mount Prospect, and representatives from Get Covered Illinois, the Department of Human and Family Services, and Schaumburg Township.

The free virtual event will take place t at 6 p.m. Wednesday. People interested in attending must register ahead of time by visiting bit.ly/3CZFUx4.

"It can be difficult to know your health care options and where to find affordable options," Murphy, a Democrat from Des Plaines, said in an announcement of the event. "Providing informative, easy-to-understand resources to ensure your health care choices is a top priority."

Open enrollment for the Affordable Care Act marketplace opened last week and goes until Jan. 15. People searching for health insurance plans under the Affordable Care Act may be subject to cheaper premiums for next year due to pandemic relief.
